Excerpts from the Exalted Rulers Speech:
This Is A Most Humbling Day. I’d like to begin by thanking my wife Marie for her patience, understanding and support of our commitment to our Lodge, and to the rest of my family, including Marie’s parents, who are members of S. Hillsboro, FL Lodge #2672, in Ruskin, FL, who have made the extra effort to be with us today, and our daughter Margo and our sons Mel and John, and our non-member friends, who are here with us today.
Also, thanks to PER Bob and his team of Installing Officers, and ER Craig for an orderly transition, and his help. Also, thank you to the members for their confidence in electing me to lead our club for the next year, and for being here today to share the day.
Our next year will be about people, not politics. It shall be a coming together of good people for the good of OUR lodge. Many meetings, some mandatory, some optional, have led up to this day, and perhaps the most memorable for me was the District Deputy Clinic held by PDDGER Jon Felice at W/C lodge #18. I have invited Jon to be here today to share some thoughts, and “Give Us A Nugget To Take Away With Us”, and put to use for the good of OUR lodge.
To conclude, I ask each of you here today to remember that “the faults of our members we write upon the sand”; be slow to judge, and quick to forgive your fellow members. I invite each of you here today to step forward during the upcoming year, get involved in OUR lodge, support OUR events, be a contributing member of OUR lodge, and together we shall grow forward.
Thank you for being here today, and tomorrow. Working together, this shall be a great year for OUR Lodge.
